Alagie Njie has two hometowns: one is Gambia, where he was born; the other is Guizhou, where he studies. In Gambia, big data is still a relatively new concept; in Guizhou, however, big data has touched all areas of life.

为此，那歌一直有个心愿——把大数据带回冈比亚，用以发展家里的家庭农场。这也是那歌选择贵州大学学习果树学专业的原因。

So, Alagie always wishes to bring big-data technologies back to Gambia and apply them to his family farm. That is the reason why he has come to Guizhou University to pursue his master's degree in pomology.

What's there to be brought back to Gambia? Today, let's follow Alagie to discover the story behind the State Key Laboratory of Public Big Data at Guizhou University.

2021年10月，由贵州省和国家科技部共同组建的“公共大数据国家重点实验室”在贵州大学正式揭牌。国重室旨在响应壮大数字经济、推动区域经济社会高质量发展的时代需求。主要研究领域包括公共大数据融合与集成研究、公共大数据安全与隐私保护研究以及块数据与区域治理等三个方向。

In October 2021, the State Key Laboratory of Public Big Data was officially launched by Guizhou province and the Ministry of Science and Technology together. This laboratory is designed to cater for the rapid development of the digital economy and the high-quality development of the regional economy. It focuses on the integration and fusion of public big data, the security and privacy protection of public big data, and the regional governance with block data.

贵州大学省部共建公共大数据国家重点实验室主任李少波介绍道：“目前，这个实验室是大数据领域，我国第一个也是唯一一个国家重点实验室。人工智能算力已达到12 petaflops。”

Professor Li Shaobo, director of the State Key Laboratory of Public Big Data, introduced, Now, this laboratory is the first and only state key laboratory in the field of big data. The AI computing of the lab has hit 12 petaflops.

在农业植保大数据研究室，农业大数据平台正通过人工智能技术预测农产品价格、销量和生物习性。

Inside the Agriculture Big Data Lab, there is an agricultural big-data platform predicting the price and sales of produce and biological habits of plants via Artificial Intelligence (AI).

那歌从研究室教授那里了解到，300多个小型农业气象站正实时监控威宁的风力、气温和湿度，并将数据回传至农业大数据平台。

Alagie has learned from a professor that more than 300 micro weather stations are running to feedback information on wind, temperature, and humidity in Weining to the big-data platform.

在无人机大数据研究室，多架无人机正通过大数据远程监控平台检测服役情况。一边控制方向，一边控制油门，那歌在研究室里体验了无人机模拟飞行。

In terms of the UAV Big Data Lab, numerous UAVs are under the remote control of the big-data platform. In control of the controller and accelerator of a UAV, Alagie experienced the UAV flight simulation.

深入体验国重室运行情况后，那歌对算力中心印象深刻。那歌感慨道：“今天的体验超乎想象。大数据、无人机以及5G技术将逐步改善我们的生活质量。”

After a close look into the way this laboratory is operated, Alagie was mostly impressed by the Computing Center. He said, I can't just imagine what I've just experienced with big data, UAV, and 5G technology. They are improving our lives.

“国重室算力中心目前已拥有PB级分布式存储能力。”李少波表示，国重室正用数据资源做科研、用数据资源培养和引进人才、用数据资源培育和服务产业。

There are PB-level capabilities for distributed storage in the computing center of the lab. Li said, Data resources are used for scientific research, bringing in talent, and the development of industries.

5月26日，2022中国国际大数据产业博览会（以下简称“数博会”）于线上召开，涵盖开幕式、八个数谷论坛以及数博发布等线上活动。作为全球首个以大数据为主题的博览会，数博会已连续举办七届，致力于呈现大数据、人工智能、物联网以及“元宇宙”等相关领域前沿科技成果。

On May 26, the 2022 China International Big Data Industry Expo is being held online, including the opening ceremony, eight forums, and the Big Data Expo Release. The annual Big Data Expo, the first expo themed on big data in the world, has been held for the past seven years, focusing on the latest achievements of big data, AI, IoT as well as the metaverse.

贵州正拥抱大数据。近年来，贵州积极推进首个国家大数据综合试验区建设，深入实施大数据战略行动，推动经济社会高质量发展。海量数字信息正通过贵州，快速传输到世界各地。

Guizhou is embracing big data. Recently, Guizhou has accelerated the construction of China's first national big data comprehensive pilot area and chosen big data as a strategy to promote economic and social development. An unimaginably vast amount of digital information is getting ever vaster and ever rapider from Guizhou to the world.

得益于大数据产业蓬勃发展，数字经济在贵州这片土地上焕发冉冉生机。观察商业走势、防灾减灾、保障安全……因有大数据，过去认为不可能的事，如今都已成为现实。充分发挥大数据潜在优势，还能进一步挖掘经济潜能，为科技创新增添动力。

Thanks to the rapid development of the big data industry, the digital economy is booming in Guizhou. This makes it possible to do many things that previously could not be done: spotting business trends, preventing diseases, combating crime, and so on. Managed well, the data can be used to unlock new sources of economic value and provide fresh insights into science.

如今，贵阳贵安数字经济增加值占地区生产总值比重超过40%，软件和信息技术服务业收入年均增长38.7%。

At present, in Gui'an and Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, the added value of the area's digital economy accounted for more than 40% of GDP, and the annual average growth rate of software and information technology services was 38.7%.

量变带来质变。贵州数字经济增速连续六年位居全国第一，成为贵州的重要支柱产业。大数据已成为贵州“抢数字新机，享数字价值”的重要路径。

The quantitative change has begun to make a qualitative difference. Guizhou's growth rate of the digital economy has ranked first in China for six years, showcasing that big data has become a pillar industry in Guizhou. In Guizhou, big data represents a new approach to SEIZE NEW OPPORTUNITIES and SHARE DIGITAL VALUES.
